Are you looking to move horizontally on the salary schedule? "The KNEA app is like my own personal money saving guru that fits in my wallet! Our family of four saved more than $750 on a vacation to Washington DC. I just saved 30% on my back to school wardrobe! I don't go shopping without first searching for these discounts. You can save on basically everything." -- Nichole Gurwell, District Improvement Specialist
Colleagues:
I want to share a simple opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our students.
I've been in touch with Casey Rooman-Smith for a while about what it would look like for us to be able to make a small deduction from our checks that would go toward the USD 232 Education Foundation, which provides grants to classrooms and teachers in our district.
It is now a fully functional option for all of us. You can access it with the form below and choose when deductions will start.
For my family, probably like a lot of yours, we are not able to make huge gifts at one time or to pledge as much as I wish we could to the foundation. However, taking $10 at a time from my check (or less) feels manageable and at the end of the year can have a significant impact on our students and on students like my daughter who goes to Clear Creek Elementary.
I am challenging my teacher and admin colleagues to consider joining me, if able, in making a donation with each check, whether it is $1 per check or more, to make an impact in our district.
If you have questions beyond what is on the form Casey is cc-ed on this email and can help.
Thanks for being amazing colleagues!

The school district, in partnership with the USD 232 Education Foundation, sponsors a staff recognition program called Making a Difference. This award, underwritten by Great American Bank in De Soto, is designed to honor and recognize those staff members at USD 232 who are truly “making a difference in the lives of young people” by continually exceeding job expectations for the students, families, and other employees in our district.
Award Criteria
Each year at Convocation, DTA sponsors and staffs a food drive, encouraging all staff to contribute to the De Soto Food Pantry.
At Christmas every year, members of the DTA executive board collect donations to buy presents for a family in need in our community.
DTA also has adopted a stretch of Monticello Road adjacent to three of our schools to periodically pick up litter and beautify our community.
